Project Echo with Sydney Local Health District

Project ECHO® (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) is an evidence-based model which places healthcare providers from diverse settings in direct contact with subject matter experts, empowering them to provide best practice care for their local communities.

Project ECHO® comprises a series of weekly ECHO sessions via videoconference. Each ECHO session consists of a brief presentation from a set curriculum designed in consultation with potential participants, followed by a participant-led case presentation with facilitated discussion. Following sessions, a brief written summary of the presented case with treatment recommendations is provided to participants, along with links to evidence-based resources.

Menta Health Coordinating Council: Supported Decision-Making Modules 1 & 2

These free modules are accessible to all staff working with people in the psychosocial disability and mental health and human services sectors. 

We encourage their use by other practitioners, as well as people with lived experience, carers, family and informal support persons. 

On completion of this module, participants will be able to: 

• Define supported decision-making
• Explore the development of supported decision-making approaches in the disability and mental health contexts 
• Discuss the importance of decision-making to maximise self-determination 
• Explain some of the ethical and legal considerations of supported decision-making. 
• Identify steps in the supported decision-making process 
• Outline basic skills to support a person to make decisions 
• Acknowledge your own strengths, the assumptions and beliefs you hold and recognise the potential barriers to supporting a person make decisions
