The MothersBabies Study at the Microbiome Research Centre, UNSW Sydney, is seeking to recruit women over 18 years who are currently not pregnant, but actively planning to conceive. This study will investigate how lifestyle, microbiome and gut health pre-pregnancy impact health outcomes during pregnancy, birth and beyond.
This is a non-interventional study where health assessments and microbiome samples will be collected at regular intervals (3-monthly) before conception and up to one year after birth. Microbiome samples will be collected at each assessment from mother and baby. The study has significant potential to transform preconception and antenatal care.
