BreastScreen NSW Assessment Clinics COVID-19 restrictions

13 July 2021

Please be advised that the BreastScreen NSW service is still operating. For BreastScreen clinics located in South Eastern Sydney and Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health Districts, a small number of clinics are temporarily closed. Further information relating to re-commencement of service and/or an extension of closure period will be provided.

Our service has temporarily closed clinics located in:

  • Bondi Junction
  • Sydney CBD and
  • Wollongong CBD

This temporary closure has been initiated to protect the health and wellbeing of staff, BreastScreen NSW clients, and the community, supporting efforts to reduce the potential spread of COVID-19.

In the meantime, our team are:

  • Contacting all women who have appointments scheduled at the clinics that will be impacted by the temporary closure.
  • Continuing to provide screening at our clinics located in: Nowra, Ulladulla, Shellharbour, Miranda, Royal Hospital for Women, and St George Hospital.
  • Taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our clients in relation to COVID-19, including implementing all necessary infection control procedures across the service. These include; pre-screening of women prior to their appointment, hand hygiene practices, frequent equipment and common surface cleaning, social distancing practices, a minimal contact check-in process, strategies to manage the number of clients in clinics at any one time, and the provision of information and support for clients to keep themselves, other clients, and our staff safe.
  • Conducting Assessment clinics as scheduled out of our St George Hospital and Royal Hospital for Women sites.
