In the past week (19 October to 25 October) there have been eight new cases of COVID-19 in our region. All cases are people returning from overseas.
Bayside, Randwick and Waverley local government areas and Lakemba are areas identified for increased testing. Anyone who has visited these areas in the past two weeks should monitor for symptoms and immediately isolate and get tested should even the mildest of symptoms appear. After testing, you must remain in isolation until a negative result is received.
Anyone displaying symptoms of COVID-19 including fever (≥37.5), cough, sore throat, shortness of breath (difficulty breathing), runny nose loss of smell and loss of taste must be tested and self-isolate while awaiting results.
Other reported symptoms of COVID-19 include fatigue, muscle pain, joint pain, headache, diarrhoea, nausea/vomiting and loss of appetite. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia with severe acute respiratory distress.
