DFV Assist: Support for patients experiencing Domestic and Family Violence
Join CESPHN’s Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV) Program Advisory Committee
We are looking to fill three positions on our DFSV Advisory Committee, comprising a:
GP,
Practice Nurse and
Psychologist.
Since 2020, CESPHN has been funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care to improve primary care responses to domestic and family violence (DFV) through training, referral support and system integration and improvements.
An Advisory Committee was established in 2021 to advise the CESPHN staff on the project. In 2023, CESPHN received further funding to expand the program to include Sexual Violence and Child Sexual Abuse.
Position objective:
Members of the Advisory Committee:
Share knowledge and information
Provide advice, support and guidance to the DFSV Program
Identify system barriers and provide guidance on system improvements
Identify opportunities for cross collaboration and partnerships across the CESPHN region
Identify and discuss possible risks and associated mitigation strategies as they emerge
Identify practice improvements that support Health Professionals to provide trauma-informed care
Review training and other material and provide feedback
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for a GP, Practice Nurse and a Psychologist who have:
An understanding of issues related to domestic and family violence, sexual violence and/or child sexual abuse within a primary care context;
A sound understanding the indicators and health impacts on patients who have experienced complex trauma in the context of domestic and family violence / sexual violence and/or child sexual abuse;
Experience or strong interest and understanding in providing trauma informed care, specifically related to domestic and family violence, sexual violence and/or child sexual abuse;
Time commitment:
The Advisory Committee meets quarterly for 1.5 hours on a Wednesday evening. On rare occasions there might be an ad hoc meeting or some out of session feedback sought via email.
