There are a small number of places still available at the Palliative Approach to Care 1-day Masterclass, at the CESPHN office in Mascot on Thursday 7 September, from 8am – 4pm.

Developed and delivered by HammondCare, the program aims to help care teams working within the Central and Eastern Sydney PHN region provide the best support at this critical stage of our residents, patients and clients’ lives.

Drawing on decades of research and experience, A Palliative Approach to Care gives an extensive overview of death, dying and palliative care. The program explores what good palliative care involves and how to deliver it. Participants will learn to recognise when someone is dying and feel confident to have conversations about end-of-life with those in our care and their families.

Participants will learn

  • What good palliative care involves
  • Essential skills to talk about death and dying
  • How to recognise frailty and delirium
  • Understanding ethical issues
  • Symptom assessment and management
  • Understanding grief, loss and bereavement
