CESPHN’s Project GROW offers free in-practice support and training to increase the capacity and confidence of primary care providers in delivering care to patients with intellectual disability.
100% of practice staff who have attended this training would recommend it to others.
Here are 3 training reviews from GPs who participated:
“The training changed the way we understand and care for people with intellectual disability.”
“[It has] increased my awareness, and confidence because of the way our questions were answered by the facilitators. E.g. clear direction on gaining informed consent.”
“Exceeded expectations, very informative, I got a lot out of it:
Communication, variance in patient needs, how to best advocate.
I feel more confident to do the annual health assessment – training helped with strategies, building trust with patients, increasing safety and comfort.
We have recommended our new staff do the same training.”
Training is available to primary health care practices within the CESPHN region, is relevant for and can be tailored to GPs, Allied Health Professionals, Practice Nurses, Practice Managers, Practice Administrative staff.
