GENERAL PRACTICE GRANTS PROGRAM
As part of the 2022-23 October Budget, the Australian Government announced the Strengthening Medicare – GP Grants Program. The program will support general practices to make improvements to their practices, to expand patient access and provide better, safe, accessible quality care.
All general practices will be eligible for these one-off grants of up to $50,000. The grants can be used to:
- Enhance digital health capability, such as IT hardware and software upgrades, to fast-track the benefits of a more connected health care system to meet future standards through digital health solutions.
- Upgrade infection prevention and control arrangements to ensure patients are safe from infectious respiratory diseases, such as COVID-19 and influenza, and can be seen face-to-face.
- Maintain and/or achieve accreditation against the RACGP 5th edition Accreditation Standards for General Practices to promote quality and safety in general practice.
The management and administration of these grants will be managed by Central and Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network. We are now encouraging general practices to start thinking about how they can spend this grant on quality improvement initiatives in their practice.
Further information on how, when your practice can apply for the grant and what will be required as part of the grant application process will be released in the coming weeks.
Further information about the GP Grants Program can be found here.
We expect to open up the grants to general practices in late April and will email all general practices.
