The position is responsible for maternal and child health services within an Aboriginal Community Controlled health care setting that focuses on the prevention, early detection and management of health problems for Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander maternal women,  newborns, their children and families.

Qualifications / Education and Training

To be successful in this role will require to:

  • Holds current general & Midwifery Nursing registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Authority (AHPRA); with postgraduate Maternal Health and Child Health qualifications.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an acute care setting or medical practice environment
  • A demonstrated ability to work in the community and to promote the development of the Maternal and Child Health Service Model.
  • Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others
  • Strong computer skills including Internet and email, and familiarity with health information
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the National Competency Standards for Registered Midwives
  • Experience working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health service
