MEDIA RELEASE: New Medicare Urgent Care Clinic Opens in Maroubra
Today the Central and Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network (CESPHN) is pleased to have the Hon Matt Thistlethwaite Member for Kingsford Smith officially open the Maroubra Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (UCC).
People across the eastern suburbs of Sydney will now have access to this fully bulk billed urgent care clinic at the Maroubra Medical and Dental Centre on 806-812 Anzac Parade.
The clinic will be open extended hours 8am – 8pm, seven days a week, easing pressure on Prince of Wales and Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. Highly trained doctors and nurses will provide care, with no need for an appointment and there is plenty of parking.
The clinic will support the care needs of adults and children who need urgent but not life-threatening care.
Almost half of all presentations to New South Wales hospital emergency departments and 40 per cent of presentations at Prince of Wales Hospital emergency department are for semi- and non-urgent conditions.
The Maroubra Medicare UCC will make it easier for the community to get the urgent treatment they need while taking pressure off hospitals.
Patients attending the clinic will be connected to their usual GP to ensure their continued care needs are met.
CESPHN is pleased to partner with local GPs, the Prince of Wales Hospital, and the Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick to provide this much needed new service. Central and Eastern Sydney PHN CEO Nathalie Hansen said:
Quotes attributable to Nathalie Hansen:
“The Maroubra Medicare Urgent Care Clinic will provide additional care options for people across South Eastern Sydney and reduce pressure on local hospital emergency departments so they can focus on higher-priority emergencies and life-saving care.”
“This service will work closely with local GPs and enable families to walk in and receive convenient, high-quality care from a nurse or a doctor.”
