Orana Early Support Service is an early intervention volunteer home visiting program to support families with babies and young children in the Sutherland Shire.
The service is targeted to parents (or carers) who have at least one child that is three years of age or younger, who are experiencing additional stress and could benefit from extra support. Some of the stress such families may be facing include social isolation/lack of support, multiple births, depression and/or anxiety or family illness/disability.
Eligible clients are matched with trained volunteers who visit families for two to four hours/week. The volunteers can support the family by being an extra pair of hands to:
help with the baby or child
provide respite for sleep deprived mums
help with shopping andmedical appointments
playing with children while Mum attends to other tasks
providing company, conversation, and parenting ideas.
In addition to the volunteer home visiting program, Orana also provide an In-home counselling service by a qualified counsellor.
All volunteers receive comprehensive training and supervision and are screened with Working With Children Checks, Police Checks and personal references. More information about how to become a volunteer is in the attached flyer.
Please see the attached referral form for the Early Support Service. For more information contact Leah Wallace or phone 9521 8280 EX 2 for more information.
