We’re pleased to announce that Pain and Symptom Management will be the topic for the fourth free webinar in HammondCare’s 10-part education series for residential and community care workers, A Palliative Approach to Care.

Optional workshop dates:

  • Session 1: Tuesday 27 June 3 pm – 4 pm AEST
  • Session 2: Thursday 29 June 3 pm – 4 pm AEST

Developed and delivered by HammondCare, the program aims to increase knowledge and understanding of palliative and end of life care, and to help care teams working within the Central and Eastern Sydney PHN region to provide the best support at this critical stage of our residents, patients and clients’ lives.

Drawing on decades of research and experience, A Palliative Approach to Care gives an extensive overview of death, dying and palliative care. The program explores what good palliative care involves and how to deliver it.

Participants will learn to recognise when someone is dying and feel confident to have conversations about end-of-life with those in our care and their families.

In this webinar, participants will learn:

  • Assessing symptoms using a model of person-centred care
  • Basic principles of symptom management
  • What to report when assessing and managing symptoms
  • When to ask for help and who to ask
  • Non-medical interventions
