The COVID-19 pandemic led to an unprecedented level of demand for influenza vaccinesin 2020 across all vaccine channels including GPs/ pharmacies and other immunisationproviders.
Strong demand for seasonal influenza vaccines was observed early in the 2020 season andremained consistent. Influenza vaccination will be more important than ever given theongoing nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is anticipated that demand forinfluenza vaccines will remain high next year.
Private market influenza vaccines
Noting the demand experienced in 2020, the Department of Health is advising providers that now is the time to consider private marketordering requirements for 2021.
NIP influenza vaccines
NSW Health will communicate via usual channels to facilitate ordering and distribution of2021 NIP influenza vaccines and as such, no further action is required regarding these vaccines at thistime.
