Suicide Prevention for Seniors Program

The Suicide Prevention for Seniors training program is aimed at anyone working with older people including GPs, Allied Health, Aged Care Services, and Volunteers.

The program is run by Anglicare and funded by the Australian and NSW Governments.

The program has two components:

1. Question, Persuade and Refer (QPR) gatekeeper online training

This self-paced online program will teach you about the common causes of suicidal behaviour, the warning signs and how to question, persuade and refer someone who may be suicidal. It is general in nature and will equip you with the knowledge you need to move on to the workshop.

(up to 1 hour to complete)

2Online Workshop

Here you will join a Zoom workshop where the QPR suicide prevention training will be contextualised for older people. You will learn facts about suicide in older people, tips on how to communicate with older people who are having thoughts of suicide and put your knowledge into action.
