Relationships Australia NSW has been funded to provide the Reconnect Wellbeing Program to December 2021. Reconnect aims to reduce social isolation and loneliness, improve wellbeing and increase connections for older people disproportionally affected by COVID-19.
This service is specifically designed for people over 65 years and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders over 55 years who live in the CESPHN region. It offers client-centred casework support, low intensity psychological therapies, psychosocial support, and referrals to other health and support services.
GPs, allied health workers and pharmacists are uniquely placed to understand and be attuned to the changing needs of their patients/clients with whom they provide health advice and medications. Those affected may present as experiencing loss, isolation, and disconnection.
Awareness of this free service may assist you to offer support to older people who may be more vulnerable due to the pandemic.
