Navigating health, wellbeing, and social support services can be challenging for people. The Service Directory aims to help: 

  • Reduce the burden of finding local health and social support services, 
  • Assist GPs and other primary health care workers link patients and clients to the health and social support services they need, 
  • Empower people to take the lead to find information on health and social support services close to where they live, and 
  • Create webs of reciprocal support between providers.

The National Health Services Directory aggregates large data sets from across the health sector to provide complete, accurate and up-to-date information about health services. This enable health professionals and consumers to navigate health service information quickly, safely and reliably.

Healthdirect Service Finder

Healthdirect’s Service Finder is a comprehensive directory of healthcare professionals and services. including GP, psychiatry, pharmacy, vaccine clinics, physiotherapy, pathology, hospitals and urgent care.

Mental health directories

CESPHN’s Mental Health Services Directory aims to:  

  • assist referrers, and service providers to understand what services are available in the region  
  • best match services to the needs of patients/clients and with the aim of provide up-to-date wait time information for all services listed. 

The directory has been thoughtfully designed to allow referrers to drill down and find services specific to their patients’ needs, preferences and circumstances. This can be done using the comprehensive filtering system for demographics, service type, population type, plus location services and wait time feature.  

For clinical mental health services listed in the directory, referrers can also filter by IAR (Initial Assessment and Referral) Level of Care (1-5). The IAR Decision Support Tool (DST) for mental healthcare was developed by the Department of Health and Aged Care to guide referral to the most appropriate treatment intensity for an individual, getting them the right care at the right time.

This directory provides a useful overview of various Australian online and tele-web programs. eMHPrac has compiled a directory of Australian, evidence-based, free (or low-cost), publicly funded digital mental health programs and resources, ranging from apps, to crisis helplines, to self-guided online programs.

Head to Health is a national mental health website launched by the Australian Government. It connects Australians to evidence-based and peer-reviewed online resources from some of Australia’s most trusted mental health organisations.

This includes apps, online programs, online forums, and phone services, as well as a range of digital information resources.
