Healthdirect Australia has announced the continuation of the Healthdirect Video Call COVID-19 GP Program and the PHN Exemplar Program to 30 June 2026.

GP Program

• The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing has extended the Healthdirect Video Call COVID-19 GP Program to 30 June 2026.
• We encourage you to continue using this secure video consulting platform which has been purpose-built for primary care settings, in line with the changes to the telehealth MBS items.
• RACGP/ACCRM CPD accredited training in Healthdirect Video Call is available for your practice – please register here for essential training.  
• A Bulk Billing Consent application is available in Healthdirect Video Call to use online.

Exemplar Program

• The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing is continuing the Healthdirect Video Call Exemplar Program to 30 June 2026.

Interpreter Workflow Options in Healthdirect Video Call

There are various ways you can add an interpreter to a Video Call in Healthdirect, to assist with accessibility for patients, families and carers who are not fluent in spoken English or who are deaf.

Your organisation will need an agreement with an existing interpreter service and established processes and workflows, to ensure an efficient and effective experience for your clinics and health consumers.

The options for adding an interpreter to the call are:

• Send the clinic link to an interpreter and Add them to the call from the waiting area.
• Invite an interpreter directly into your current Video Call.
• Use the Services on Demand application to request an on-demand interpreter from inside the call screen.
