Changes to Electronic Referrals at Sydney Local Health District

Over the next 24 months Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is expanding its use of eReferrals for General Practice referrals and rolling out the NSW Health referral management platform, Engage Outpatients.

The platform streamlines the triage and management of referrals, and provides secure, electronic communication with GP referrers and patients on the receipt and processing of referrals.

GPs will continue to refer to SLHD outpatient services via HealthLink SmartForms however existing services will progressively move to a new folder on the HealthLink landing page over the next 24 months as part of this change over.

From Wednesday 30 October 2024, eReferral forms for RPAH Gastroenterology Services (Gastroenterology, Liver, Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Positive FOBT Assessment), alongside SLHD Women’s Health services, will be hosted in a new link on the HealthLink landing page:

Sydney LHD Women’s Health and RPAH Gastroenterology Services

Ereferrals Slhd

eReferral forms to all existing services across RPA, Canterbury, Concord and Balmain Hospitals and SLHD Community Health services will remain in the Sydney Local Health District Services link.

Further service change notifications will be provided as the changeover progresses. The full list of services is available here.

Electronic referrals via HealthLink SmartForms are the preferred method of referral to over 85 services across SLHD. GP referrals sent via other methods (fax, email, walk-in) will start to be phased out over the coming months.

For more information on how to submit and update eReferrals, please refer to the HealthLink Smartform user guides.
