The Get Healthy Service – Falls Prevention is Everyone’s Business
April is Falls Prevention Month. This year’s annual campaign, Falls Prevention is Everyone’s Business, aims to help Australians find appropriate exercise programs to meet their needs and interests.
Research shows that exercise of any type can reduce the risk of falling by 23%.
The Get Healthy Service is a free NSW Government healthy lifestyle program that provides tailored health coaching and online support.
Your patients can be referred to receive physical activity or healthy eating coaching and will be supported to reach their personal health goals.
The benefits of healthy eating and physical activity for older people include:
Strengthening bones and muscles
Improving balance to reduce falls risk
Managing or reducing risk of chronic diseases
Refer your patients by visiting gethealthynsw.com.au/health-professionals, through medical software (Medical Director, Best Practice), or via HealthPathways in the Lifestyle and Preventive Care Pathway.
If you have any questions, call the dedicated Get Healthy Clinician.
