Job Title: GP Registrar
Skills Experience:
We seek an enthusiastic GP registrar with an interest in Urgent Care. The unit sees patients with acute, minor medical problems who self-refer or are referred by local GPs, hospitals and other health practitioners. We service the local community by providing care to lower acuity patients who would have otherwise presented to the local emergency departments. We have a good relationship with our local tertiary hospital and are well supported by their emergency and inpatient specialty teams, when needed. Approximately 30% of our patients are paediatric and the post is approved for GP level paediatric training. Procedural work includes fracture care, IV antibiotic therapy, ECG diagnosis, eye slit lamp use, suturing, tissue gluing, complex wound care and abscess drainage.
A Hospital in the Home facility operates within Casualty and provides care for patients with cellulitis, community acquired pneumonia, pyelonephritis and uncomplicated DVT. GPC also runs a GP-led Fracture Clinic for the management of minor uncomplicated factures. We also run a Wound Care Clinic that provides medical and nursing team wound management.
There are exceptional local restaurants and cafes within walking distance and the hospital is easily accessible by public transport.
The registrar position is full-time or part-time for a duration of 6 months. Interviews will be conducted with successful applicants.
