Successful webinar on vaccine management for pharmacists
Last Thursday evening, 6 March, the CESPHN Immunisation Team hosted a webinar titled “Mastering Cold Chain Management: Strive for 5 and NIP Vaccinations for Pharmacists.” This event was organised to support the recent National Immunisation Program Vaccinations in Pharmacy (NIPVIP) Program rollout. The webinar highlighted pharmacist requirements as outlined in the NSW pharmacist vaccination standards, National Vaccine Storage Guidelines and the National Immunisation Program schedule.
Recognising the challenges faced over the past year, the Immunisation Team collaborated with key stakeholders to ensure comprehensive outreach. Representatives from the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA), the Pharmacy Guild (PGA), and the Pharmacy Defence League (PDL), alongside CESPHN, delivered insightful presentations. This joint effort aimed to educate pharmacists on their professional and legal responsibilities in vaccine management and program delivery.
The webinar saw an impressive turnout of over 100 pharmacists from across NSW attend on the night, highlighting the critical role pharmacists play in vaccine delivery and public health protection. The event’s success highlights the dedication of pharmacists to enhancing their knowledge and skills in this vital area.
Building on this momentum, CESPHN continues to support pharmacists with valuable resources. The Pharmacist Immunisation Newsletter, launched last year, provides monthly updates and is an excellent tool for ongoing education in the pharmacy space.
