The Initial Assessment and Referral (IAR) Decision Support Tool (DST) for mental healthcare was developed by the Department of Health to support appropriate mental health referrals and improve patient outcomes.
The implementation of the IAR-DST is a national initiative, and the tool is currently used in Medicare Mental Health Centres, the National Head to Health Assessment and Referral Phone Service and some PHN Commissioned Services.
CESPHN has trained over 1000 health professionals including GPs and Allied Health Professionals in how to use the IAR-DST – register below and join them today.
Training is available for all clinicians and CPD hours can be claimed. The training is RACGP and ACRRM accredited for 1 hour Education Activities and 1 hour Reviewing Performance Eligible GPs who complete the training and associated surveys before June 30 2025 will also receive:
