CESPHN Support for Nurses Working in General Practice

Are you a new nurse working in general practice?

Our practice support team are available to provide you with a Practice Nurse orientation session which includes a copy of our Practice Nurse Resource Guide.

We can also provide you with ongoing support to help you learn and succeed in your new role.

These sessions can either be an in general practice or a virtual visit.

CESPHN Programs

DFV Assist is an initiative of CESPHN, in partnership with Legal Aid’s Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Program. 

The program assists health professionals and practice staff to support patients impacted by Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) through free training, specialist consultation and referral support.

It is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care.

Our DFV Assist Educator will contact you to discuss training options for your practice.

Standards User Guide for the Health Care of People with Intellectual Disability

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care has released new standards in response to significant evidence of poor health outcomes for people with intellectual disability in Australia’s health system.

New campaign promotes Star Ratings for aged care homes

The Department of Health and Aged Care has introduced Star Ratings for aged care homes. Star Ratings help older people to research and compare the quality of care, safety and services of aged care homes across Australia.

A toolkit has been developed for health professionals to support talking with patients about residential aged care planning and how Star Ratings can help.

The kit includes conversation talking points, a printable poster and brochure, fact sheets and other useful information. Translated resources are also available.

Other Learning Opportunities and Programs

Cervical Screening, Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and Self-Collection

With primary care playing a critical role in increasing screening participation rates, this course will provide General Practitioners, Nurse Cervical Screening Providers and Practice Nurses across Australia with information about the progression of cervical disease, the rationale for using the HPV test as the primary screening test, and recent changes to the NCSP clinical guidelines plus more.
