CESPHN – SUPPORT FOR NURSES WORKING IN GENERAL PRACTICE

Are you a new nurse working in general practice?

Our practice support team are available to provide you with a Practice Nurse orientation session which includes a copy of our Practice Nurse Resource Guide.

We can also provide you with ongoing support to help you learn and succeed in your new role.

These sessions can either be an in general practice or a virtual visit.

Important Changes – 2025 Nursing and Midwifery Registration Renewal

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) has launched a new online portal with multifactor authentication. To proceed with your renewal, you must first set up your Ahpra portal. Heart Heath Week (5–11 May)

Heart Week is Australia’s national heart health awareness week held each year in May.

This week is Heart Week, and the Heart Foundation are encouraging health professionals to Never miss a BEAT by using the Aus CVD Risk calculator to deliver more Heart Health Checks to their eligible patients.

NSW Ambulance Clinical Trial Brings Advanced Technology to Cardiac Arrest Emergencies

NSW Ambulance is conducting a clinical trial that delivers a hospital-grade machine directly to cardiac arrest scenes across Sydney, providing patients with crucial, life-saving time. The results so far rank among the best worldwide.

Chronic Wound Consumables Scheme

Starting in May 2025, the Department of Health and Aged Care’s CWCS will fund wound consumable products for individuals aged 65 and older, as well as First Nations people aged 50 and over, who have diabetes and a chronic wound. Eligible health professionals will need to complete the specified training to use the online portal. – Access training here

EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES AND PROGRAMS

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Nurse education scholarship opportunities in 2025                                   

Central and Eastern Sydney PHN is offering registered nurses working in general practice within the CESPHN region the opportunity to apply for a scholarship to attend one of four face-to-face educational workshops.

Successful applicants will receive scholarships covering up to 90% of the course fees.
