Connecting Multicultural Communities with accessible mental health support
Psychological Support Services (PSS) is open and provides free telehealth and face-to-face mental health treatment sessions, with options available to support clients from multicultural communities.
Bilingual clinicians are available across a range of languages, including Cantonese, Mandarin, Arabic, Spanish, Korean, Punjabi, Urdu and Persian. A list of clinicians is available on the APMHA Psychological Support Service webpage.
Where a bilingual clinician is unavailable or another language is required, referrers can indicate the use of a translator when making a referral and the clinician is able to access free translation and interpreting services from TIS National.
GP referrals can be submitted using the National Medicare Mental Health eReferral via HealthLink SmartForms in your clinical software. Other referrers may submit a referral via the online eReferral form.
Include “PSS” in the referral and provide all relevant clinical information, including the client’s preferred language and interpreter requirements, to support timely triage and allocation.
For program information, visit the CESPHN PSS webpage. For referral or eligibility enquiries, call the CESPHN Mental Health Intake team on 1300 170 554 or email at mentalhealth@cesphn.com.au.
