Immunisation Weekly Update:

20190319 Immunisation Needle Icons 31

Capvaxive stock exhausted

Current stocks of Capvaxive have been exhausted due to ongoing supply and distribution constraints, resulting in a temporary vaccine shortage.

Further stock is anticipated to arrive in the coming weeks. Please ensure clinics or appointments for eligible patients are only booked when you have sufficient vaccine available in your fridges.

Please ensure you are monitoring the provider noticeboard on the State Vaccine Centre for further communication.

Prevenar 13 and Pneumovax 23 should no longer be used.  Any stocks of these vaccines held in provider fridges should be destroyed and reported in the State Vaccine Centre system as an expired vaccine with ‘30 June 2026’ as the expiry date.

Refer to the  NSW Health RSV Prevention Program – Clinician Guide for further information and program resources.

COVID-19 vaccines – Update for providers

From 1 October 2026, COVID-19 vaccines will be funded under the National Immunisation Program (NIP), replacing the stand-alone National COVID-19 Vaccine Program (NCVP).

Funded access under the NIP will be available for eligible groups at highest risk of severe disease, consistent with existing COVID-19 vaccination recommendations.

  • All adults aged 75 years and over (one dose every 6 months)
  • Adults aged 65–74 years (one dose every 12 months)
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50–74 years (one dose every 12 months)
  • All adults aged 18 years and over with severe immunocompromise (one dose every 12 months)

Please continue to recommend and administer COVID-19 vaccines in accordance with the Australian Immunisation Handbook.

For further information, read the COVID 19 vaccine NIP transition factsheet
