Join us online for this workshop on overcoming the stigma and providing essential primary care for People with Severe Mental Illness (PWSMI)

People with severe mental illness (PWSMI) have a 13-30 year shorter life expectancy than the general population. This is largely attributed to high rates of modifiable cardiometric risk factors such as smoking, hypertension and obesity, which translates to high rates of chronic disease. As a result, PWSMI are six time more likely to die of cardiovascular disease and four times more likely die of respiratory disease than the general public

This interactive online workshop introduces the essential role of general practice in providing ongoing-care for PWSMI. GP participants discuss the challenges in providing care and learn about available resources and support in South Eastern Sydney Local Health District and Sydney Local Health District so that we can reduce the health equity gap with shared care.
