Nurses are an integral part of the primary health care team. Increasingly complex healthcare demands, complex medical conditions, preventative health, immunisation, population health, aftercare, legislative and MBS changes, care standards and increased expectation of patients are just some of the things that nurses deal with every day in private business environment. When you are new to primary health care and general practice it’s good to know where to start and where to get support. The CESPHN Nurse Orientation webinar is a good starting point.
Session learning objectives:
• outline the role of the nurse in general practice
• determine the nurse role in population health from prevention and chronic disease care
• understand meeting complex needs and why care planning is important
• determine where to get support in my new role as a primary health care nurse in general practice
• determine methods for identifying patients overdue for routine vaccinations at the practice level
Presented by Karen Booth, RN, President of Australian Practice Nurse Association (APNA) and educator.
