Join us online for this education session on preventative health care for people with intellectual disability, highlighting the importance of Annual Health Assessments and chronic disease management plans.
The session will be co-facilitated by GP, Dr Jessica Murphy, and Kylie Scott who has a lived experience of intellectual disability. The session includes interactive, case-based learning and will provide an opportunity for clinicians to discuss the challenges faced when caring for this population group.
Dr Murphy will step through her process to increase efficacy and efficiency by utilising multiple appointments, templates and practice nurses when conducting assessments.
The event will also cover resources, QI activities to embed reasonable adjustments and details of local specialist services including the NDIA’s Early Childhood Approach (ECA), Specialist Intellectual Disability Health and Mental Health Teams.
