This 90 minute live, interactive webinar will equip GPs with practical strategies to support adolescents experiencing mental health challenges while they are on waitlists for specialist care.
Delivered in a small-group format to encourage discussion and engagement, the session will be led by Associate Professor Caroline Johnson, GP and academic at The University of Melbourne. Caroline will provide an overview of evidence-basedtools and resources you can use with patients during the wait time.
In this webinar, you will also hear directly from adolescents with lived experience about what makes a difference in GP consultations for mental health.
Young people and our clinical psychologists will share real-world insights on how to build trust,communicate eff ectively and support teens during the often-challenging wait for mental health care. Grounded in lived experiences, this panel will highlight simple, actionable strategies that can strengthen therapeutic relationships, enhanceengagement, and help young people feel heard, safe and supported.
You will also hear about a new digital support package for adolescents to use during the wait time that is being piloted across CESPHN and COORDINARE.
