Join us for this education session on medical record-keeping and privacy obligations in general practice.

All medical practitioners have legal and professional obligations to make and maintain medical records. Good medical records are essential for the provision of good patient care and can also be a medical practitioner’s best defense to a complaint or claim.

Would your medical records support you in the event of a:

• Medicare Audit
• Accreditation visit
• Complaint to the HCC
• Claim against an adverse outcome
• Privacy Commission investigation

We will also discuss privacy, access, transfer (including cost), release of records, ownership, child custody issues and destruction. What to do when the patient is no longer a patient of the practice or if you receive information for patients that are not your patient.
