Join us for a comprehensive overview of dental health care across the lifespan. The session will discuss priority population groups from childhood through to the elderly, with specific reference to people with intellectual disability and those with specialised needs. 

The speakers will give an overview of oral health assessments in primary care, the importance of early detection, preventative interventions and referral pathways to specialist services within the CESPHN region. 

Learning Outcomes:

• Summarise contemporary evidence of the oral health needs for children and adults with specialised needs, and appropriate assessments and interventions within primary care settings.
• Describe preventative oral health strategies for children and adults with specialised needs.
• Gain familiarity with assessment, identification and shared management of oral mucosal pathology
• Identify current barriers for priority population groups accessing appropriate oral health services, including people with a disability, homeless, CALD and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander.
• Develop understanding of specialist oral health services available in the region and increase confidence on how to refer appropriate patients to relevant oral health services.

The session is targeted at GPs, dentists, practice nurses and allied health clinicians.
