Topics to include understanding a palliative approach, identifying end of life stage and managing symptoms for people with dementia, ethical issues and communicating with families.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Describe a palliative approach.

2. Understand the Advance care planning process.

3. Understand end of life stages and describe how to provide supportive care.

4. Discuss ways of communicating with the person and their family.

Additional Learning outcomes for Registered Nurses:

1. Utilise clinical assessment tools that assist with identifying end of life stages.

2. Identify symptom management principles using evidence based practice.

3. Describe ways to provide support to the family and other members of the care team.

Morning Session for Care staff will run from 9am -12 noon. Registrations essential.
