Palliative care is a critical component in the management of people with motor neurone disease (MND), a progressive and life-limiting condition. This session will equip GPs with the knowledge and skills to integrate palliative care early, including assessing and managing key symptoms (dyspnoea, dysphagia, pain, and anxiety), initiating advanced care planning, and addressing psychosocial and family needs.

Participants will also develop confidence in coordinating multidisciplinary care, initiating goals-of-care discussions, and supporting decision-making around interventions. A focus on community-based care will highlight strategies to help people with MND remain at home for as long as possible, with care aligned to their preferences, dignity, and quality of life.
