Supporting a patient impacted by DFV can be difficult. DFV can have a huge impact on a person’s physical and mental wellbeing. In fact, it is one of the largest contributors to the burden of disease for women aged 18-44. A full-time GP is estimated to unknowingly see 5 patients per week experiencing DFV. Only 1 in 10 are asked about it.

Join us online for a presentation and panel discussion which will cover: how to recognise the signs a patient may present with indicating DFV; how to respond to disclosures; how to ask the right questions, how to assess safety and how to link a patient into support. Our panel will then take participants through a case study.

Presented by: Lauren Gecuk ( CESPHN DV Educator), Brooke McGorry (Social Worker and DFV Navigator), Talie Star (Lived Expertise Advisor).

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Recognise the signs of domestic and family violence (DFV)
  2. Respond appropriately to disclosures of DFV
  3. Identify support services available

Target audience: GPs, Nurses, AHPs, Pharmacists, Practice Managers and Practice Staff
