Join us in person for a catered training dinner and learn about recognising the signs of sexual assault in a primary care setting and how to respond.  Our panel will discuss the signs of Sexual Assault, how to appropriately respond to disclosures and support services available.

Research indicates that GPs are frequently chosen by victim-survivors as the professionals to whom they disclose their experience, with 4 in 10 victim-survivors seeing advice or support from a general practitioner or other health professional.

Statistics show that 23% of women and 8% of men over 18 years of age have experienced sexual violence. This means GPs are already likely encountering individuals affected by these traumas in their practices, where GPs they often become the first point of contact for victim-survivors.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Recognise the signs of Sexual Assault
  2. Determine how to appropriately respond to disclosures
  3. Identify support services available

Target audience: GPs, nurses and AHPs
