CESPHN invites oral health practitioners to strengthen their skills and confidence in delivering inclusive, preventive oral health care for people with disability, including those with intellectual and physical disabilities.

Through practical guidance, case-based learning and real-world application, participants will explore strategies to adapt care to individual needs, preferences and circumstances. The session will focus on supporting positive patient experiences, improving access to care and enhancing clinical decision-making within general dental practice.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Recognise oral health risks associated with intellectual and physical disability, and commonly co-occurring conditions
2. Adapt oral examinations to support patient safety, comfort and individual levels of tolerance
3. Modify treatment planning based on clinical risk, patient preferences, functional capacity and care context
4. Identify when to escalate care, including recognising indicators for sedation or specialist referral and navigating appropriate pathways
