This session explores the emotional and psychological impacts consumers, patients and communities may experience in the weeks and months following the Bondi terrorist attack, and will equip health professionals with practical, trauma informed strategies to provide effective support.
Alongside strategies for patient care, the session will highlight ways health professionals can protect and safeguard their own wellbeing while navigating these challenging conversations.
The session will also incorporate important local and cultural context for health professionals through the insights and perspectives of Karen Spielman a local GP and member of the local Jewish community.
After an initial trauma informed session from Phoenix Australia a facilitated panel featuring Dr Spielman will be offered with an emphasis on informing the ways local communities identify and receive health services as well as important information on mental health supports available to people in the Bondi Community.
