This session aims to increase GPs and allied health professionals’ understanding of complex trauma, its impact, prevalence and common presentations.
It will explain how complex trauma affects some vulnerable population groups, such as people experiencing homelessness, family and domestic violence, and refugees. In addition, this session will explore strategies to better identify patients experiencing complex trauma and to provide some practical support and referral pathways for better supporting patients in a trauma informed and culturally safe manner.
