Join us for this education session on 'A Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Microbiome'
Professor Emad El-Omar, Professor of Medicine at the St George and Sutherland Clinical School, UNSW Australia, and the Director of the Microbiome Research Centre at St George Hospital, Kogarah.
Learning outcomes:
1. Describe what comprises the human gut microbiome and how it influences health and disease commonly seen in general practice
2. Discuss how patients can improve their gut microbiome with a focus diet and lifestyle,
antibiotics, prebiotics, probiotics and faecal microbiota transplant.
3. Use health pathways to assist with the management of these patients and understand when and how to refer to a specialist
Target audience: The content will be targeted at GPs however we welcome relevant allied health professionals and practice nurses to join as well.
