About the consultation

The Central and Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network (CESPHN) is conducting a series of consultations to identify current gaps and emerging areas of need in youth mental health service delivery across our region. Recognising that the mental health of young people is being adversely impacted by recent national and global events; and that people seeking mental health support in the community often face challenges in finding the right service due to the complexity in the health system, difficulty accessing services, or lack of appropriate services, these consultations present an opportunity to identify keys areas of need to help inform the CESPHN needs assessment and future commissioning in youth mental health.

About the workshops

We are inviting young people with lived experience who reside in the CESPHN region to attend a consultation session. This may include people with a lived experience of mental health challenges and accessed support in the community themselves (sometimes referred to as a ‘consumer’), or a young person who has supported a peer, or family member access youth mental health services.

Orygen will be facilitating the workshops on behalf of CESPHN. These workshops will explore:

● your experiences (or your loved one’s) of accessing mental health support, such as what has been most helpful or most challenging previously

● how the existing Mental Health services best meet your needs and what are the gaps that you have observed.

Separate focus groups are being held to capture the insights and suggestions of people working in the youth mental health sector, including GPs, public mental health service providers and other community-based supports.
