As part of the 2022-23 October Budget, the Australian Government announced the Strengthening Medicare – GP Grants Program. The program will support general practices to make improvements to their practices, to expand patient access and provide better, safe, accessible quality care.
All general practices will be eligible for these one-off grants of up to $50,000. The grants can be used to:
Enhance digital health capability, such as IT hardware and software upgrades, to fast-track the benefits of a more connected health care system to meet future standards through digital health solutions.
Upgrade infection prevention and control arrangements to ensure patients are safe from infectious respiratory diseases, such as COVID-19 and influenza, and can be seen face-to-face.
Maintain and/or achieve accreditation against the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners Standards for General Practice to promote quality and safety in general practice.
Grant applications are being managed by Central and Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network who will be distributing grants in our region.
How to apply to GP Grants Program
All eligible practices received an invitation via email. The email contained all required information and a link to the online CESPHN application form for practices to complete by 5pm local time on 15 June 2023.
A registration/application email has been sent to general practices within the CESPHN region. If you believe you have not received this communication, please email gpgrants@cesphn.com.au with the name of your practice and your contact details.
This is not a competitive application process. All eligible practices will have the opportunity to receive a grant.
A GP Grants Program online information session was held on the evening of Thursday 4 May 2023. This information session covered the GP Grants Program guidelines, eligibility, application process, and timeframes.
