External Events


CESPHN runs a full calendar of events which can be found on the Event Registration page. We also support external organisations who also run education and these events can be found below. If you would like to advertise on our external events page, please complete the online form. Once you have submitted the form, these will be reviewed and uploaded at our earliest opportunity and an email will be sent to you advising the outcome of your request. 
We welcome you to submit events for the upcoming 3 months. Please be advised that there may be delays due to increased demand, or over holiday periods. Once your event has been published no changes can be made.

Please note that events must be held in the next 12 months, be hosted within the CESPHN catchment, and be relevant to general practitioners, allied health professionals, practice nurses, practice managers or practice staff.

Central and Eastern Sydney PHN has full discretion to reject external event requests or cease the promotion of any external events on our website.

Foundations for Building Trauma Awareness

Friday, 13 June 2025, 9.00am – 4.30pm

This training is the foundation to all Blue Knot training programs. It provides learners with a trauma-informed lens to better understand the impacts and outcomes for people who experience trauma, and especially complex trauma. The important message is: Trauma Informed Practice is not about the treatment of trauma or the symptoms, but rather a recognition that trauma experiences are a possibility for anyone (Kezelman & Stavropoulos, 2012) This training program utilises current research to provide an understanding of trauma, the impacts of trauma on all aspects of life and subsequently the coping mechanisms formed in response to trauma. The principles of trauma-informed practice are introduced which focus on a strengths-based approach and applicable to all, vital for every person working in health, human, education, disability and legal services, working in government, non-government, public or private sectors.

Hepatitis B for Nurses and Midwives Pilot

Tuesday, 17 June and Thursday, 19 June 2025, 6.30pm – 8.30pm

This course will provide Nursing and Midwifery Professionals with advanced practical skills and knowledge in hepatitis B nursing. The course is delivered in two 2-hour sessions. The first session includes presentations that introduce the epidemiology of hepatitis B, vaccination and prevention, understanding testing, and serology, initial assessment includes Fibro scan assessment and the cultural context of hepatitis B nursing and midwifery. The second session includes case discussions and presentations on monitoring and management of chronic hepatitis B and HCC surveillance.

Sepsis in primary care recognition and management course

Wednesday, 18 June 2025, 7pm – 8pm (AEST)

Presented by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care Sepsis is a life-threatening medical emergency affecting 55,000 Australians each year and causing over 8,700 deaths. Early recognition and timely intervention are critical, but recognising and responding to sepsis in primary care can be challenging. The Commission, in partnership with The George Institute for Global Health, Sepsis Australia and Medcast has developed an online education module for primary health professionals. This free one hour, CPD approved course features three interactive case studies and three downloadable clinical resources to support primary health professionals recognise and respond to sepsis and post sepsis syndrome.

Trauma Sensitive Practice: Working with Complex Trauma

Monday, 23 June 2025, 9.00am – 4.30pm

This training is a blend of foundational information on complex trauma with the introduction of the practice of safety and stabilisation. This training program utilises current research to provide an understanding of trauma, the impacts of trauma and the neurobiological responses that occur. Building an understanding of the key features of complex trauma that can present in our working relationships and the resourcing and regulation that can support in practice. This program is for those who have some level of trauma awareness and seek to build on their knowledge and continue to embed the trauma informed principles within therapeutic practice.
