Expansion of Electronic Referrals across South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD)

South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) now has over 140 specialties listed within Healthlink. SESLHD is moving away from paper referral pathways, with Electronic Referrals (eReferrals) being the preferred referral pathway into Outpatient services.

As part of SESLHD’s commitment to improving the safety, efficiency, and timeliness of managing patient referrals:

  • All practitioners with Healthlink access are strongly encouraged to submit referrals electronically via the Healthlink platform when referring to Outpatient services across SESLHD.
  • SESLHD is progressively moving away from paper‑based referral pathways, including fax and email.

Important Update – Antenatal Referral Pathway Change

SESLHD’s latest eReferral implementation introduces a notable change to Antenatal referral pathways across SESLHD.

  • A GP referral is now required for patients to access Antenatal care with required supportive information outlined on the Antenatal eForm.
  • Patients will no longer be able to self‑refer to Antenatal services.
  • Flexibility will be applied in specific circumstances, particularly around gestation or clinical considerations, where timely access to care is required.
