EOI – GP CPD Activity Guides Pilot – paid consultation

The NSW STI Programs Unit, in partnership with South Western Sydney PHN and Central & Eastern Sydney PHN, is seeking expressions of interest from general practitioners (GPs) to participate in a pilot of newly developed Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Activity Guides focused on improving the prevention, testing, and management of sexually transmissible infections (STIs), HIV, and blood-borne viruses (BBVs) in general practice.

About the Project

The GP CPD Activity Guides have been developed by the NSW Ministry of Health to support GPs to strengthen preventive health care related to sexual health and BBVs by:

  • Increasing routine comprehensive STI, HIV, hepatitis B and C testing for patients identified as at increased risk of sexually transmissible infection
  • Increasing sexual health and blood-borne virus testing as part of the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Assessment (MBS Item 715)

The pilot aims to test the guides and gather feedback from participating GPs to inform future statewide rollout.

Participating GPs will:

  • Complete three GP CPD Activity Guides (covering STI, HIV and BBV prevention and management)
  • Complete a comprehensive evaluation (survey and reflection) to provide feedback on the guides

Estimated time commitment: 8–9 hours total (including evaluation)

Remuneration: GPs will be reimbursed for their time upon completion of all three guides and the evaluation.
CPD eligibility: Activities are aligned with RACGP and ACRRM CPD requirements for 2025 and can be self-reported under the ‘Measuring Outcomes’ or ‘Reviewing Performance’ categories.

Eligibility

  • GPs practicing within the South Western Sydney / Central & Eastern Sydney PHN regions
  • GPs interested in contributing to improving preventive sexual health care in general practice
