HIV Testing Week 2026

Hiv Testing Week

CESPHN and the local health districts encourage GPs to support routine HIV testing during HIV Testing Week (1–7 June).

As part of HIV Testing Week (1–7 June), SESLHD will launch a new MyTest HIV vending machine on 5 June at St George Hospital, Kogarah.

The vending machine provides a convenient way for people to access HIV self-test kits, supporting broader access to HIV testing across the district.

The newly released NSW HIV Strategy 2026–2030 continues the focus on reducing HIV transmission through increased testing, prevention and linkage to care.

In 2024, 35% of HIV diagnoses in NSW were made by GPs (32% by non-s100 GPs and 3% by s100 prescribers), highlighting the important role general practice plays in HIV testing and diagnosis.

Many people newly diagnosed with HIV report previous contact with healthcare services before diagnosis, highlighting missed opportunities for early testing and treatment.

GPs interested in becoming an HIV s100 prescriber are encouraged to express their interest through ASHM’s HIV s100 Prescriber Course:
