Adolescent vaccination hits five-year low

Vaccination coverage among Australian adolescents has fallen to its lowest point in five years, continuing a downward trend that began during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Girls: 81.1% (2024) down from 86.6% (2020)
  • Boys: 77.9% (2024) down from 84.9% (2020)

Meningococcal ACWY vaccine (by 17 years of age):

  • Combined: 71.3% (2024) down from 74.3% (2020)

Implement an adolescent vaccination recall QI activity at your practice

CESPHN can support your practice in implementing a range of adolescent vaccination QI activities. These will generate a list of patients at your practice overdue for their adolescent vaccinations, allowing you to contact them to offer free catch-up vaccinations funded through the NIP.
