New AIR due/overdue rules for adult vaccines

The Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) has introduced new ‘due’ and ‘overdue’ rules to support recent NIP changes.

Pneumococcal due/overdue rules will apply to:

  • Adults 65 years and over
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 25 years and over

Adults who have previously received a pneumococcal vaccination (i.e. Prevenar 13 and Pneumovax 23) will appear as ‘due’ in the AIR for a 21-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (Capvaxive) 12 months after their most recent vaccination.

RSV due/overdue rules will apply to:

  • People aged 75 years and over
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 60 years and over

AIR immunisation dashboards

The Australian Government Department of Health Disability and Ageing has launched a set of new self-service immunisation dashboards that allow easier access to vaccination data from the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR).

The dashboards are updated monthly and cover 4 key areas:

The dashboards give users a comprehensive view of vaccination coverage across the life span and provides information on doses administered and people vaccinated.

A  User Guide  and  Vaccination dashboards methodology paper are available to support interpretation and use of the dashboards.
