The Initial Assessment and Referral (IAR) Decision Support Tool (DST) was developed to assist health professionals to match a person’s mental health needs with the most appropriate level of care.
The CESPHN IAR team has trained over 1800 health professionals in the IAR-DST via regular zoom training sessions since 2022.
In an important step toward a sustainable, accessible IAR training model, we are pleased to announce the launch of the new IAR eLearning module for Health Professionals developed by the Department of Health, Disability and Aging and the University of Melbourne.
The eLearning module is designed for health professionals with appropriate qualifications and experience in mental health assessment and/or treatment, offering a flexible online format that allows them to complete the training at a time and place that best suits their operational needs.
By strengthening the availability of flexible training options, we are supporting providers across Australia to deliver high‑quality, consistent, and evidence‑based mental health assessments.
