The Mental Health Branch (MHB) of the NSW Ministry of Health is coordinating the scheduled review of the Discharge Planning and Transfer of Care for Consumers of NSW Health Mental Health Services Policy Directive.
To inform the review, the MHB will hold a statewide online focus group with general practitioners (GPs) on Tuesday, 26 May, from 6.30 pm to 8.00 pm, via Microsoft Teams. Participants will receive $300 remuneration for their time.
GPs are invited to register their interest in participating through an Expression of Interest (EOI) process. The EOI process will be used to support a balanced, statewide mix of participants. GPs who are not selected may be invited to provide feedback in writing.
If you are interested in participating, please complete the EOI using the link below by COB Friday 15 May.
After the session, the MHB will share a feedback summary with participants for validation. The MHB will not attribute any comments to individuals or organisations in their reporting. Any feedback provided will be stored securely and in line with NSW Health privacy requirements.
The validated summary will be shared with the Mental Health Discharge Planning and Transfer of Care Expert Reference Group (ERG). The ERG has been established to guide the review process and includes representatives from government and non‑government organisations, including people with lived experience.
A copy of the final policy will be shared once it is published.
Please find a copy of the existing policy and a project information sheet attached. The MHB will circulate an agenda and discussion paper to confirmed attendees before the session.
For more information, email the MHB at MOH-MHB-DSP@health.nsw.gov.au.
The MHB look forward to hearing your insights and working together to improve outcomes for mental health consumers.
